Angelina "Angel" Colonneso

Manatee County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller

Angelina "Angel" Colonneso is a lifelong resident of Manatee County, Florida. She attended St. Joseph’s School and later graduated from Manatee High School in 1986. While she was in High School and college, she worked for Bealls Department Store and received the Robert M. Beall Trust Fund Scholarship for her undergraduate studies. Angel earned her Associate of Arts degree from Manatee Community College in 1989 and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of South Florida in 1991. She received her Juris Doctor degree from New England School of Law in Boston, Massachusetts in 2000.

Angel served as General Counsel to R.B. "Chips" Shore, Clerk of the Circuit Court and Director of Public Access. Angel has a total of 11 years of service with the Clerk’s Office. From 2000-2011, Angel served as an Assistant State Attorney under State Attorney Earl Moreland prosecuting numerous crimes including gang violence and homicides.

Angel has been a member of the Manatee County Bar Association since 2000, having served as both a Director and an Officer. Manatee Memorial Hospital Women’s Action Committee, Bradenton Kiwanis Club, the Florida Association of Women Lawyers and is on the Board of Directors for the Friends of the Florida Maritime Museum as well as the Leadership Manatee Alumni Association and is a member of the Manatee County Historical Commission. Her other community activities have included: Manatee County Mock Trial competition panel judge; Trial Judge for Teen Court; Manatee County History Fair judge; she has also volunteered for various community events and projects involving Habitat for Humanity, Bill Galvano One-Stop Center, Speaking of Women's Health and Visible Men Academy. She is a 2012-2013 graduate of Leadership Manatee.

Angel is active in committees of the Florida Association of Court Clerks, serves on the Access Governance Board a subcommittee of the Florida Courts Technology Commission, and the Florida Rules of Criminal Procedure Committee. She has also served on various Best Practices Committees of the Florida Clerks Association and has spoken at Clerk’s Conferences and the New Clerk’s Academy. She is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). Angel is a lifelong Republican.
