The Value Adjustment Board and the Value Adjustment Board Special Magistrate hear petitions regarding exemptions, classifications, and ad valorem tax values. In August the Property Appraiser mails Truth in Millage notices known as TRIM notices. Property owners contesting the assessed valuation of property may file a petition and have a hearing before the Special Magistrate. Based on the evidence and testimony presented by the property owner, the Special Magistrate makes a recommendation to the Value Adjustment Board.
